Ending on a high note

This is how ends our short but active 2012 season. Roberval is every year a sign of accomplishment, a sign of warm weather but ultimately a sign of party! The last weekend of the EPT calendar went very well, with the exceptions of a few accidents. Fridays practices being cancelled due to the heavy rain received on Thursday, “The Wild Child” Nick Lagoy didn’t know what to expect since he hadn’t race in three weeks. He pulled off a more than O.K. performance not losing a single Champ round or final. Yes, the #7 got a perfect weekend which makes him our 2012 champion! The veteran driver Larry Day took the 2nd position in each final where the third place went to Felipe Roy-Lalonde on Saturday and to our Semi Pro champion from last year Curtis Weatherdon on Sunday.

In Pro Formula, the first and second positions went to the same 2 drivers who decided to trade spots from one day to the other. Mike Van Dolder chose to be Saturday’s winner and #33, Jocelyn Lesieur, took care of Sunday’s final. Dave Baldwin followed in 3rd for both races. In the Combo, the Factory 600 sleds leaded both finals making it two race weekends in a row that a champ has not won a race in this class. For the Junior 340, we witnessed an unusual final on the Saturday where Danick Lambert from Sorel took first place making Jade Ouellet and Sabrina Blanchet 2nd and 3rd in the same order. Everything went back to what we are used to seeing on Sunday; Sabrina finished 1st, Lambert managed an impressive 2nd place and Jade Ouellet completed the top 3.

Finally, we held our usual mechanics’ race on Sunday. This year’s concept was slightly different since the drivers took seats in our CF moto side-by-sides. The show was amazing and helped us raise a good amount of money to help Curtis Boivin.
